About the Developer

The project developer is Redbank Communities. The company was formed in 2006 when the site was acquired by the shareholders of Investment Management Australia Pty Ltd (IMA) and its joint venture partners. In 2012, IMA shareholders acquired all interest in Redbank and now own the project outright.

Redbank Communities falls under the umbrella of IMA, a specialist property financier and development risk manager (www.imaltd.com.au). Capitalising on strong links to the property industry and a management team with a high level of property and lending expertise, IMA invests in the residential, retail, commercial, and industrial property sectors. Since 1999, IMA has raised over $300 million from its shareholders and investors for investment in over 70 property developments across eastern Australia, including some of the following master-planned communities:

  • Settlement Shores, Port Macquarie NSW: Joint Venture with Port Shores to complete the final 35% of this long running master-planned development.
  • Casuarina Beach, Kingscliff NSW: 180ha master-planned beachfront township developed by Consolidated Properties, financed by IMA.
  • Bluewater Harbour, Cairns QLD: Equity partner in the 207ha master-planned canal subdivision developed by Consolidated Properties.

Archie and Gordon Douglas

Archie and Gordon Douglas were the Co-founders and Directors of PRDnationwide, which was established on the Gold Coast in 1976 and prior to its sale to Colliers International in 2006 enjoyed average gross sales revenue in excess of $6 billion per annum. As one of Australia’s leading real estate practices, PRDnationwide operated corporate offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and the Gold Coast as well as, in excess of 160 franchise offices throughout Australia, Asia and the Middle East. Employing approximately 2,000 people throughout its network, Gordon & Archie were instrumental in delivering many of Australia’s largest and most successful property developments over an almost 40-year period, pioneering the concept of Project Marketing in Australia. Product concept and design advice through research and experience in marketing gave them a unique insight to many markets and developments on the Eastern seaboard of Australia. Gordon Douglas has held positions as the President of the Gold Coast Development Association, Chairman Gold Coast Harbours Authority, board member of the Gold Coast City Council Heart of the City Task Force and holds memberships in the Urban Developers Institute of Australia (UDIA), Real Estate Institute of Queensland (REIQ) & a Foundation Member of The Southport School Building Fund.

Archie Douglas was a member of REIQ Board of Directors between 1991 & 1993, is a member of the UDIA, AICD, and held both past and present board positions for Matrix Building Group and Halcyon Group.

John Benton

John is the Managing Director of the Jarden Corporation Ltd group of companies with operations in Australasia in the investment and property development area, including PRDnationwide prior to its sale to Colliers. Jarden became established in the 1970’s and developed into New Zealand’s largest stockbroking and investment banking organisation at that time. The New Zealand activities were sold to Credit Suisse First Boston in 1990. John was one of the four senior partners responsible for the growth and development of the firm.

John has been a director of a number of listed and non-listed companies in activities encompassing finance, property, insurance broking, mining and meat processing. He is chairman of the Wellington meat exporter Taylor Preston Limited and has farming and wine interests in New Zealand as well as his interests in Australia including IMA & Redbank Communities.
