Christmas at Redbank 2017

Residents and future residents of Redbank celebrated Christmas on Saturday 16th December at Peel Park, North Richmond.

With almost 80 homes now fully built in Yobarnie Rise, people are getting to know each other more, and a vibrant community is taking shape in the Redbank Estate. These families are proud to call North Richmond their home and are always seeking opportunities to embrace the rich culture of the Hawkesbury. Now that they are part of the community here in North Richmond, they wanted to meet everyone who are living in and around the Redbank Estate and what better occasion to do that than Christmas!

It all started when a few ladies from Yobarnie Rise came up with the idea of hosting a Christmas event inside the Redbank Estate where all locals can come with their kids to have a fun day out. Slowly more volunteers started to join the team and more and more ideas started to emerge. Almost 350 flyers were were distributed to homes on Pecks Road and all other streets along Pecks Road in addition to all homes in Redbank.

The event kicked off at 4:30 pm when everyone started coming in with something yummy to share. Kids enjoyed their time on jumping castles and a bungee run while parents were enjoying drinks on picnic blankets and catching up with neighbours. The sausage sizzle started at 5:00 pm with the help of Kurrajong-North Richmond Anglican Church and Value Valley Meats North Richmond. Everyone enjoyed a good sausage roll, yummy home baked cookies and lot of other treats along with some chilled soft drinks.

At 6.30 pm in the evening Grose World Rural Fire Service brought Santa Claus to the park in a fire truck. Santa spent more than an hour meeting kids, delivering gifts and taking photos with everyone. We could not be happier to see community organisations like the Anglican Church and the RFS celebrating with all of us in this great event. Our resident DJ David Roberts played Christmas songs throughout the day. Everyone hung around till 8.30 pm, got to know their neighbours and enjoyed the festivity.

It was an incredible event where residents took responsibility of different aspects of the event. It is always great to see members of the Redbank family getting involved in community activities with their neighbours. Big thanks to Suzanne, Jenny, Tyas, Kylie, Katrina, Karlene, Wendy, Joanna, Emma, Geoff, James, Ross, David, Nathan, John and all others who planned and organised this event together. Another big thanks to the Kurrajong-North Richmond Anglican Church and Grose World Rural Fire Service for their tremendous support.

We hope Christmas in Redbank will only get bigger and better in the coming years.
