The Redbank Go Kart Championship was held at Indy 800 Kart Track in Wilberforce last Saturday and didn’t disappoint. It was a gorgeous and sunny day perfect to put our helmets on and compete to be crowned the Redbank Speedster.
With picnic blankets out, BBQ sizzling, children giggling on the jumping castle, and an action-packed racing track awaiting - it was time to team up for the races. We had the privilege to have volunteers from Grose View P&C who cooked a delicious BBQ feast for us and through the sale of tickets for the event, our community was able to raise $610 which is to go towards the local community.
After lunch, we all headed towards to racetrack to experience a nail-biting race series. Todd Arrowsmith, Paul Ninnes, Scott Davis, Ross Baker and Daniel Walker were the 5 winners from the first-round races who went straight to the final. Next to join them were Byron Aird, Geoff Ryan & Aaron who had the top lap times, our 2 fastest ladies Jenny Adams and Katrina Ryan, and our fastest junior racer Lucas Ryan. In a toe to toe race that lasted for around 15 minutes, we had few spin outs and a little off-road adventure from some drivers.
In third position, we had Ross Baker with his best lap of 52.683 seconds. Ross secured his spot in the final by coming first in the first round and he had a very consistent run in the final that got him to secure the third place. Byron Aird was in 2nd position with a time of 52.770 seconds. Byron came second in his first race by just 1 second and was a worry for a lot of other racers for his super quick laps. Finally, we had our Redbank Speedster, Todd Arrowsmith with a swift time of 52.688 seconds. Todd was the winner of his first-round race and was the most consistent in all his laps in the final race.
We would like to thank the P&C from Grose View Public School for manning the fantastic sausage sizzle for the day. We would also like to thank everyone else who helped organise and manage the day. Here is to our next community adventure…
